Our Year 10 Partnership Evening saw a large group of parents come in to get all the necessary information to support their children in facing up to their GCSE-level qualifications of the next couple of school years.

The evening included a Headteacher’s presentation which looked at what the evidence is behind academic success, and how this relates to targets, exams, revision, support and more besides.

Following this, there were four sessions – repeated twice – which covered key topics that parents could pick from on the basis of what they needed to know most of their child. These included GCSE Maths, GCSE English, Vocational Courses and Trips Visits & Experiences which are on offer at our school, over the next four years – the GCSE years and then those in the Sixth Form too.

Additionally, as part of our top-rated career and aspiration programme, we invited in Ask Apprenticeships to talk about the apprenticeship route and how this builds on what is studied in school at GCSE and Sixth Form level.

The presentations from the evening can be viewed below:

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “There is no doubt that parents who can keep themselves in the loop and be actively engaged in what and how there child is doing in school are better placed to enable their child to be successful. Teachers are working parents too, so we understand that it is not always easy to do everything we would like as a parent, but we would urge all parents to do all they can to be as active and aspirational as they can be in supporting their child’s education.”
