Our Summer Sizzler returned bigger and better than ever, entertaining a large crowd on a glorious summer evening.
More than 100 students took part in an impressive range of dance, choir and musical performances. While some were seasoned performers, with groups set to perform again at the Fuse Festival with Lichfield Arts, others experienced their first Summer Sizzler and rose confidently to the occasion.
In her closing remarks, Assistant Headteacher Mrs Hearn thanked the crowd for their support and praised the remarkable depth of talent among Friary students, before introducing the final performances of the evening.
Alongside the entertainment, the several hundred attendees were able to enjoy a wide variety of attractions and activities. Visitors browsed numerous stalls, supported local charities such as Lichfield District City of Sanctuary through our Interact Club, enjoyed bouncy castles, tested their skills against goalkeepers, had their faces painted and even took their turn in the stocks.
Food and refreshments were provided by our dedicated PTFA, whose efforts raised valuable funds to support the work of the school.
Headteacher Mark Drury said: “As we approach the end of a busy term, this is a major community event to organise. Our staff, students and PTFA have gone above and beyond to make it a special evening. Seeing such strong support from the community makes it all worthwhile and provides our young musicians, singers and dancers with invaluable experience of performing live.”
He added: “I am especially grateful to the Performing Arts Department, Mrs Hearn and our PTFA for organising such a wonderful event.”
