Our Summer Term school production, ‘Matilda’, played out last week with phenomenal success.
Three sold-out public performances treated audiences to Roald Dahl’s classic story, which has been turned into a very successful West End production with music by Tim Minchin.
In a busy show week, the cast also played two further performances for local primary schools, along with further showcases in school assemblies.
The main cast featured Daisy Y in the title role, with Lexi R as Miss Honey and Beth D starring as one of Dahl’s classic villains, Miss Trunchbull. Zachary D and Gracie J starred as Mr and Mrs Wormwood, with Luke B as their son Michael.
Larna B, Annabelle H, Dougie H, Mia R, Owain P, Nancie C, Holly T, Finley P, Zara T, Isaac W, Laila K, Noah M, Erin C and Leo A rounded out a wonderful main cast.
In total, an incredible 126 Key Stage 3 students featured on stage, with a further 6 doing valuable service as the stage crew and/or with choreography. This meant that fully one-fifth of the school’s entire KS3 population featured in ‘Matilda’.
The quality of the production was a huge credit to the talent and dedication of the students involved. They were very ably directed by Mrs Buxton, assisted by Mr Hughes.
The evening performances were also supported by our fantastic PTFA who arranged refreshments and raffles to raise funds to support the school.
Mark Drury, Headteacher, said: “This was a magnificent production and all of those involved should feel very proud. We were delighted to showcase our students’ talents, and the number of Year 7 students involved bodes very well for the future.”
The Performing Arts department announced they will return with a production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in December 2026.
