Miss Wright, Johnson’s Head of House, nominated Alice P (Year 10) as a “fantastic role model to others.” Miss Wright gave credit to Alice’s “positive attitude,” which is evident in the number of awards she received in the last House Celebration Assembly. Alice is also Johnson’s Sport Captain, which is obviously a crucial student leadership role with Sports Day coming up later this term.

Miss Golder, Garrick’s Head of House, nominated Anna B-W (Year 10) as her Star of the Week. Anna’s award is for “her effort, participation and involvement in extra-curricular activity.” Miss Golder added: “Anna really is a role model in Garrick House.” Like this week’s other nominees, Anna scooped a number of awards in her last House Celebration Assembly, including an Academic Progress Award.

Interestingly, in 2024 both Alice and Anna were awarded Gold in the Year 8 Friary Character Award. As part of this accreditation, students collect and present evidence on how they embody each FRIARY Ethic in and out of school. So it is no surprise that Alice and Anna are well acquainted with the key values that are important to us as a school, and what we want our students to display throughout their time with us: Friendship, Responsibility, Independence, Aspiration, Resilience (and You).

The Character Award is an annual project for all Year 8 students.

At an earlier juncture in her school career is Year 7 student Poppy. Darwin’s Head of House, Mr Britton, nominated Poppy W for earning the most Achievement Points in the whole of Darwin House so far this term, an absolutely incredible effort from this week’s youngest nominee. Poppy continues to build on success, having received a number of awards in Darwin’s last House Celebration Assembly – including a Tutor Award (for her contribution to form and House activities) and an Academic Progress Award. Poppy has clearly settled into life at The Friary superbly.
