Garrick House Week saw a wide range of events including a cake sale, treasure hunt, chocolate tombola, jewellery sale and a House football tournament (among other things).
Whilst Garrick were taking time to celebrate their House, the week’s activities were also focused on raising monetary and food donations for their House charity, Lichfield Foodbank. The local charity operates from Curborough Community Centre, LifeChurch (Netherstowe) and Wade Street Church (Lichfield).
Diving straight in after the Easter Holidays, the activities took place last week, being very well supported by the school community. One event, a sponsored run, saw over a hundred students volunteer and participate.
We were pleased subsequently to host a representative from Lichfield Foodbank, who came into school earlier this week to collect our donations.
Garrick House Week raised the fantastic amount of £2,205. This figure doesn’t include the practical value of the food donations made, and we are just awaiting confirmation on the how many meals were provided through our food donations.
Miss Golder, Head of Garrick House, said: “This is my first experience leading Garrick through a House Week, and I am really proud of the efforts of the students and very grateful for the support of our school staff and families.”
Miss Golder added: “Our House Charity offers vital, practical support to families in our own local community, which made everyone’s hard work feel especially worthwhile.”
