The Friary Pen’s Spring edition is a vibrant collection of student writing inspired by the themes of spring, renewal, resilience, and nature. It includes poetry, short reflective pieces, and creative monologues, along with artwork and a voting section for favourite submissions to our Spring photography competition.
There is a QR code to vote for your favourite (student and staff). Voting will last until Wednesday (25th March) so prizes can be awarded before we break up.
A copy of the e-magazine can be viewed here.
Our student editor, Hannah Grimshaw, introduces the issue by exploring spring as a symbol of hope, resilience, creativity, and renewal. She reflects on how spring inspires writing through nature’s colours, sounds, and sense of rejuvenation.
Mr Straw, lead teacher on the project, said: “We are delighted to publish our latest edition of ‘The Friary Pen’. It has been a delight to read the writing of our students and look at their artistic submissions. This version has gone out online, there are paper copies in tutor rooms, and hopefully it will bring a spring smile to the faces of everyone who reads it.”
