Thirty‑one students from Years 9, 10 and 11 recently participated in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Maths Challenge, a nationally recognised competition designed to test advanced problem‑solving skills and mathematical reasoning. The challenge features complex, non‑routine questions that require creativity, logical precision and deep conceptual understanding.
Our students have achieved really well, being awarded a total of 10 Bronze awards, 6 Silver awards and 6 Gold awards. The Gold awards are reserved for the highest‑performing students nationally and represent an exceptional level of achievement. They have now qualified for the Pink and Grey Kangaroo stage, the next stage of the competition. This invitation is extended only to students who demonstrate outstanding performance in the initial round and reflects their ability to engage with challenging mathematical problems at a very high level.
Jake Simpson, Head of Mathematics said: “We are incredibly proud of all our participants for their hard work and enthusiasm. Well done to everyone involved — we look forward to seeing how our students continue to shine in the next stages.”
