This week saw the launch of ‘Hot Chocolate with the Head’.

One student will be nominated by each Head of House weekly to meet Mr Drury. They can be rewarded for excellence in the classroom, on the sports field or on stage, for service to others – both in or out of school – and for representing the school, or embodying the Friary Ethic.

For its inaugural week, Heads of Houses unanimously decided to nominate their House Captains: Mia, Izzy, Callie and Sophie.

These Year 11 students are fantastic role models. They take the lead during House Council meetings and see their role as taking feedback and ideas from student Form Reps to the School Council, which also met this week. They support school events and other students, working closely with their House Vice-Captain and Sports Captain.

Chasing excellence both in and out of school, they’ve all set their sights on joining our Sixth Form, with ambitions to carry on as student leaders beyond Year 11. Here perhaps are future members of the school’s Senior Seven.

Headteacher Mr Drury said: “I really enjoyed the first Hot Chocolate with the Head. This way, over the course of a year, I’ll get to meet well over a hundred students who’ve been nominated for special recognition. I’m glad the Heads of House decided to start by acknowledging the great example set by their House Captains.”
