A successful week saw two games for the Year 9 Boys’ football team, who ended with a dominant win and a hard-earned draw.

First off was a very well fought 4-4 draw against Cheslyn Hay, who are themselves title contenders and a very strong team. This was a good point earned, continuing the team’s unbeaten league run. Indeed, after coming from behind, Friary had chances to win the game at the death. This was a very spirited performance from the Year 9 Boys.

Goals were from Zac Hayward (2), Noah Malpass and Teddy Cole.

Next up was a fantastic 7-0 win over King Edward’s. This dominant performance saw some great team goals.

The Cup quarter-final win means Friary move onto the semi-final stage, where they will come up against Codsall or Great Wyrley.

Goals were from Oscar Furmaniak (2), Noah Malpass (2), Ethan Boden (2) and Zach Raphael.

Team manager Mr Sleigh said: “The boys have done really well this week, putting in two excellent performances. We look forward to the Cup semi-final.”
