The third annual Y12 against Y13 football match took place on Friday 16th January. The key organiser of the event was Deputy Head Boy Joshua Douglas-Boisson, with assistance from the sixth form Interact group and other senior students. The aim was to raise money for the sixth form’s chosen charity: Lichfield City of Sanctuary.
The event has turned into a real highlight of the sixth form calendar and is a fun, highly competitive – yet sporting – event.
We cannot thank Lichfield City Football Club enough for the use of their facilities, making the event special for both players and spectators.
This year’s mixed teams put on an excellent show with the standard of football the best yet seen in this fixture. Special mention must go to the goalscorers – Evan Wynn (Y13), George Burgess (Y12), Tyler Pilsbury and Daniel Woodyatt (Y12) – along with the Y12 goalkeeper, Stan Puleo, whose athletic agility helped keep the score neck-and-neck throughout much of the game. In the end Y13 were triumphant in a 4-3 win, all of their goals being scored by star striker Evan Wynn, who was unanimously voted man of the match.
Aside from the fun and the great football, we are also delighted to report that the event raised £981.85 for charity.
Mrs Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said: “The atmosphere on Friday was fantastic and we were all treated to a great game of football. Special thanks must go to the student leaders for organising it, all the students and parents that supported it, and all the staff that refereed, ran the line, commentated or just spectated. Finally, a big thank you to Alice Choi (Y13) and Jackson Davies (Y10) for their photography and videography of the event.”
