We are supporting Staffordshire County Council’s new attendance campaign called I’m Here.

Although attendance at The Friary is above county and national rates – due largely to the close working relationships between parents and school – we welcome any opportunity to promote the importance of school attendance. This includes acknowledging the challenges some students might face, and sharing strategies to help stay engaged with school life.

Young people often say that the biggest factor that helps them attend school is having a trusted relationship with a teacher or member of staff – someone they feel able to turn to. Working with Staffordshire students, Staffordshire County Council has co-produced two short, powerful campaign videos which capture their voices and experiences.

A dedicated campaign webpage has also been developed for parents, carers, students, and professionals, offering advice on starting conversations about mental health and links to local support. You can find this at: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/imhere

Richard Barnett-Richards, Deputy Headteacher, said: “We work really hard to improve attendance. When a student doesn’t attend school, we see the negative impact this can have both academically, socially and on their general well-being. Working together in partnership with parents will always be key, and we thank our families for their continued support in making sure each young person attends regularly and benefits fully from their education.”
