Happily, the snow proved no obstacle to welcoming students back for the start of the Spring Term.
The school’s site staff did a tremendous job in ensuring the site was safe and prepared. For a reminder of our school closure procedure, please see School Closure – The Friary School.
Students in Years 7-11 have been having assemblies with the new Headteacher, Mr Drury. He has been introducing himself to our younger students (many sixth formers will remember him from his previous stint at The Friary). In these assemblies Mrs Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, has also provided topical feedback to students on their PHSE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) learning.
Meanwhile the normal, busy routines of life at The Friary continue. Many students following BTEC courses have gone straight back into final revision and their exams.
Mr Drury said: “I am delighted to return to The Friary School. The school is very special to me and it is a great privilege to be here. I look forward to working again with The Friary’s talented and committed staff and, of course, our wonderful children and supportive community.”
“I would like to congratulate my predecessor Matt Allman on his very well-deserved promotion to a leadership position within the Trust. His impact on the school will be lasting and cannot be overstated.”
