As part of the Department for Education’s commitment to all school’s becoming increasingly committed to making their contribution to climate action and sustainability, all schools have to have a Climate Action Plan in place that ensure the foci are a school priority.
This focus is both in terms of school practices and operations,. As well as in terms of educating our students so that they take the agenda forward in their daily and later adult life.
This school year sees a huge focus on the environment in our school with a wide range of Focus Weeks raising awareness and investigating projects. In the weeks ahead there will be Go Green Week, The Big Plastic Countdown and Clean Air Day to name but a few.
Elsewhere, our school’s recycling schemes, new heating system, and continued use of solar power reflect how our site and operations add into our overall strategy.
Lisa Pratt, School Manager, said: “As a school we recognise we play a crucial role in educating our students in how they can help protect our climate and our world. It is through education and daily practices – setting ourselves as a pro-active role model leading by example through what we do – that we can make a difference to our local, national and global community now and in the future.”
