Our recent Seward House Week – raising funds for Midland Air Ambulance – broke the £3,000 barrier for the first time in the school’s history as a remarkable £3082.80 was raised in a single week. The fund-raising programme is led by our student leaders and the school was a buzz with activities and fun to raise this total.

All of our Houses raise funds for local charities as we strive to make a difference in the very community we live, study and work in. The House charities also include Lichfield Food Bank and Acorns Hospice. Elsewhere, our Sixth Formers, as part of their Interact Club set up with Lichfield St Chad Rotary, choose annual charities to support and these have included Lichfield Sanctuary and Lichfield’s Pathways Project.

Over the three previous years we have raised a grand total of: £24,042.

2022-2023 = £6,979
2023-2024 = £8,118
2024-2025 = £8,945
2025-2026 = £5,563 (with 2 House Weeks to go and more Sixth Form events to follow)

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “When we reinstalled a House system at our school we were determined to instil a sense of community responsibility. This is why we focus on local charities – we wanted to ensure that our community became richer by our efforts and that we supported the very organisations that support the families of our children. Likewise, we did not want a letter of gratitude once a year from a national charity, more we wanted real partnerships where our children met the people involved and saw the services provided. The fund-raising projects are always tremendous fun and bring a real sense of competition, as well as support for others. Young people do not always get the press they deserve, but locally these sums will stand up amongst the highest fund-raising totals that are collected.”
