Our annual Christmas Carols Concert, staged at Lichfield Cathedral, was a resounding success as a large audience of children, staff and families watched over 100 students sing, play and read as part of our Christmas festivities.

Our school choirs performed a range of songs including a Folk Ensemble with ‘What Child Is This ?’, our Boys’ Choir singing ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’, and our Senior Choir delivered ‘Gaudete – A Pudding is Born’. Elsewhere, our orchestra played ‘Ukrainian Bell Carol’ and ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’. There were genuine highlights with the incredible rendition of ‘Snow’ by Maisie Botfield and Audrey Wu and the Choir / Orchestra / Congregation combining to end with ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’.

There were also six reading Bible readings on the story and themes of the Christina Christmas story.

The service was led by Reverent Canon Gregory Platten (Canon Precento – Liturgy, Music & Formation).

Elsewhere, everyone could get involved by singing six of the best-known Christmas Carols including ’O Little Town Of Bethlehem’ and ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’.

Matt Allman, Headteaher, said; “This is always a special event, at a special time of the year, and it presents a wonderful opportunity for children to perform in what is a incredible venue. The fact too that it is our cathedral, in our city, only makes the experience more special for everyone.”
