As part of our raising aspirations programme, we were joined by one of our incredible Alumni students, former Head Boy, Minhaz Uddin, who visited Year 13 Sixth Form to share information about his journey as an apprentice.
Minhaz, who after doing incredibly well in his A-Levels, finished his studies with The Friary School two years ago, had grafted hard to secure himself a Level 6 Higher Degree Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering with leading aviation company Airbus UK.
Minhaz spoke about careers in aeronautical engineering and the many advantages of apprenticeship opportunities. He talked us through the way his particular apprenticeship is structured with Airbus UK manufacturing commercial aircraft, and the importance of networking across divisions and crucial working relationships with other large companies.
Faye Bullock, Aspirations Coordinator, said: “We are incredibly proud of Minhaz and thank him for this opportunity and continued support at The Friary School. It is extremely important that our students hear about alumni successes, equipping them with knowledge and supporting their own future decision making. One message to the students is that apprenticeships and internships are incredible opportunities, the market is a competitive place, and it takes much focus and determination to complete applications and assessments to gain such opportunities. Remember to enrich apprenticeship applications, work experience placements can bring great experience along with opportunities”.
