Our Parliament Week included a series of assemblies and tutor activities that examine the UK’s democratic process and the current debate about whether the voting age should be lowered to age 16.
As part of the week’s events, we were delighted to welcome MP Dave Roberston into school. He very gamely answered a series of unseen questions from our Y12s on issues as diverse as the cost-of-living crisis, genocide in Sudan and his views on the extent to which housing development in Lichfield is environmentally sustainable.
Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said: “Our students have a keen interest in politics and it was fantastic to give them the opportunity to voice their concerns about local, regional, national and international issues. This is the second time that Dave has been grilled by our students, and we are extremely grateful for him finding the time in his busy schedule to engage with the Sixth Formers in this way”.
