Our annual Year 7 Dedication Service took place at Lichfield Cathedral as we welcomed our new Year 7s into our school, celebrated their progression into secondary education, and set out our, our students, and our families’ promises to do all we can to help each child remain safe, happy and successful.
There were speeches from Year 7s – Lola Bugg and Liam Peck – recounting their first half-term in our school. This was accompanied by speeches from our Head Girl – Amelia Long – and Deputy Head Boy – Joshua Douglas-Boisson – who talked through their full six-years with us as they now enter their seventh and final year.
The event also saw orchestral and choir pieces which sounded wonderful with the acoustics in the cathedral. These included a ‘Mamma Mia’ medley and a cello solo of ‘The Swan’,
Elsewhere, the cathedral was packed out with parents, grandparents and younger siblings which very much represented the family which we as a school know helps our children shine.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “This is always a special celebration and this year was no different. The cathedral is very much home turf for our students as all have been welcomed into our school there and such an important step in life should be flagged up.”
