A group of Year 10 performing arts students, attended a creative careers workshop day at Lichfield Garick Theatre in partnership with Lichfield Festival and Lichfield Arts.

The day offered a variety of inspirational activities, starting with a musical performance and performing arts welcome act, this was followed by a panel Q&A, where students listened to detailed information about the guest contributors and their professional backgrounds. Students then moved onto three creative workshops.

Students were encouraged to develop and pitch their own project or event, a skills workshop, which identified soft skills and how to develop for future careers, and a room of creatives, offering 1:1 speed mentoring, CV clinic, creative apprenticeship advice, and an opportunity to have a go at being part of a filming crew and present the news on camera with Lichfield College.

Faye Bullock, Aspirations Co-Ordinator, said: “Students were inspired by this event and thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in the workshop activities. They received access to a creative careers toolkit which included a curated list of opportunities, programmes, internships and job postings information and advice for young people looking to start creative careers. The experience and knowledge will help with future decision making, with which educational pathways into creative careers is right for them.”
