As part of our Word Food Day celebrations we have been sharing Great British Recipes that celebrate all that is great about our country’s cooking, foodstuffs and ingredients.

This was flagged up in our canteen as we produced fantastic British dishes – using fantastic British ingredients – to celebrate our varied and developing national identity. We also produced a Great British Food Recipe Book which is available here.

Elsewhere, you can find great British recipes across the internet:

We also emphasised the value of using local ingredients so that the carbon footprint of our meals lessens and this in turn reduces the environmental impact of our meals.

Students also benefitted from free food provided by staff who had grown it in their garden!

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “British food – which has developed so positively with the multi-culturalism in our society – is well worth celebrating and by buying British we can reduce our impact on the world around us.”
