Our school has benefited by ‘The Story Nook’, a local bookshop and Usborne partner, and Deanslade Fitness have worked together to provide a set of brilliant reading books to our school free of charge.
The books are targeted towards Year 7 children – so hooking them into secondary school reading form the off – and Katie Styles from ‘The Story Nook’ kindly met with our Head of English, Simon Daniels, to pass over the texts.
The books have been carefully chosen to support children in their school transitions, helping them to manage big changes and tackle worries around friendships, confidence, and new routines.
Simon Daniels, Head of English, said: “This is a wonderful initiative and it is a real thrill to see local business – in ‘The Story Nook’ and Deanslade Fitness – taking the care to support children in their secondary school transition. We hope to work with ‘The Story Nook’ moving forward in terms of potential book fairs, etc.”
