Last term we have a cohort of Sixth Formers who took part in a RONA Sailing Trip – a project that seeks to: “Our mission is “to provide offshore sail training opportunities for young people and certain adults to acquire those attributes of a sailor, namely: a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork, which will help throughout their lives”.
Within the cohort, three students. Ciaran Mller, Holly Greaves and Elliot Ball achieved the Amery Award and were invited to take part in Cowes Small Ship Race in October. This event takes place between 3-5 October and sees over 20 youth sailing vessel, all under 24 metres, containing 200 competitors.
Richard Barnett-Richards, Deputy Headteacher, said “The trip is very much part of our culture of challenging students and developing their resilience to face up to the world head on and to achieve their very best. All of the students on this excursion did fantastically well, but particularly plaudits go to the Amery winners, and we look forward to learning how they got on in Cowes.
