This year’s World Challenge expedition headed off to South Africa and Eswatini and Southern Africa offered a lifetime of memories to the hardy students and staff who brave the wilds.

The programme saw community work, a lengthy mountainous trek, a safari and the general experience of the wonderful hustle-and-bustle of Africa.

There were moments when it was tough – uphill treks all the way with heavy packs – and moments of sheer magic – catching the snap of that leopard whilst out on safari.

Looking forwards, next year’s expedition is with Projects Abroad to Costa Rica, and we are potentially looking to Peru and Machu Pichu for Summer 2027.

Vicki Plested, trip organiser, said: “We are very much a school that seeks to open our students’ eyes to the world around them and this expedition is just one of the many experience we offer. Of course, this particular trip was particularly special and I know those on it will retain the memories of it for their entire life – whether to be working in local communities or getting close up and personal with endangered species. There are future trips on the horizon so look out for the opportunities as they come out.”
