Students from our Book Club and our library helpers went on a trip to Waterstones in Lichfield to choose some books for our school library.

Each student chose one book that they would like to read themselves and that they thought other students would be interested in.

They then worked together to choose some other books that would enhance our library collection. Two of the students then used their maths skills to calculate our total spend, taking the 25% discount off to see if we were within budget.

Waterstones even gave us a free copy of their Book of the Month ‘Cruise Ship Kid’ and a generous pile of bookmarks.

The new books for Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) included ‘The Midnight Guardians’, ‘Shrapnel Boys’, and ‘Lottie Brooks v The Ultra Mean Girls’. Meanwhile, the new books for Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) included ‘Reckless’, ‘As Good As Dead’ and ’11.22.63’.

Sam Sullivan, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It may be a school library, but it is very much our students’ library, so it is very important tot us that they get to choose the books that appeal to and are most relevant to them. There are some fantastic new titles now in stock and they are already available to borrow.”
