We were glad to be able to support one of our excellent feeder primary schools, St Stephen’s’ Summer Fair as part of their 150 year celebrations, in Fradley.
Assistant Headteachers Helen Barratt (Head of Sixth Form) and Sam Sullivan (Teaching and Learning) enjoyed chatting to past, present and future students and their parents, even meeting babies of students we both taught!
It was great hearing the success stories of our past students, working in all different careers from finance, to health, and leisure to MI5! (Although that is unconfirmed…).
We met new students who talked excitedly about their recent Year 6 Transition Days and how they were very excited to join The Friary in September.
We also spoke to St Stephen’s students from younger years who were asking about the school and the plans for Open Days for next year (snakes, please, Mrs Jones!).
The day was an absolute scorcher and the fair was clearly a huge success. The PTFA kept us well supplied with water and did a great job organising the different stalls and events.
Our competition was to guess how many of our current (1,278) students came from St Stephen’s. The final answer was 191 students, and the competition was won by Annabelle Hill, a Friary student in 8S1.
Sam Sullivan, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We had a great time at St Stephen’s summer fair. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to share memories with ex-students, and look forward to new experiences with those joining us in future years. Thanks to St Stephen’s for having us!”
