As part of our raising aspirations programme today Year 12 students took part in a UCAS Workshop. Students attended 3 workshop style sessions consisting of student finance, UCAS registration application process and UCAS apprenticeship platform, also we were visited by Keele University who delivered an informative session on personal statement writing.
The information workshops provided support, advice and guidance, helping students explore information, enabling them to make better educational decisions with post 18 options in the future. All students registered a UCAS account, ensuring that they are onboard and familiar with the UCAS platform and process. Students also gained insight into the personal statement process. They received expert tips on creating a quality personal statement, along with how to manage student finance, taking into consideration all of the financials they would need to cover whilst in higher education. Parents are also invited to a connecting evening event ensuring they also receive all UCAS information.
Faye Bullock, Aspirations Co-Ordinator, said: “The sessions have enabled students to gain knowledge, giving them a more confident approach with what is required with higher education options and the processes. The sessions were interactive, well received and students are now equipped with knowledge of the UCAS process, personal statements and the reality of managing their own financial budgets whilst embarking on their higher education journeys.”
