Year 8 Friary students received high praise from Michael White, the Chasetown Youth FC manager of the Under 13 team, who led the team as they took part in a 2-day football tournament with R&T Tours at the Alton Towers Football Festival 2025.

The students were: Larry Barnett, Luke Bebbington, Charlie Burgin, Noah Crowley, Alfie Maguire-Turner, Lennox Osbourne, Alan Rodziewicz & Seeley White.

The competition included a host of local football teams, but also representatives from teams originating in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Michael White reported that: ” I am glad to say your Y8 pupils acted and presented themselves as true sportsman. Great attitudes throughout and the feedback from the match officials was brilliant. They definitely did the club and the school proud over the weekend.”

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “As a school we very much that the view expressed in an old African proverb that: ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child.’ Naturally, parents and family are the main driver, but we, as well as community groups like Chasetown FC play a crucial role too. We are happy to celebrate the boys’ success and it was lovely to get such glowing feedback about them.”
