The majority of secondary schools do not have an active PTFA but we are fortunate to have an active one that make a real difference in the lives of Friary children on a daily basis.
There are a wide range of PTFA fund-raising events including the PTFA Quiz, the Summer Sizzler, the Comedy Night, the Oktoberfest, as well as countless bars at school shows.
Elsewhere, for those parents who cannot commit he time to support or attend events, there is simply a £1 per week lottery that can be signed up for and it also gives the opportunity for parents to win a weekly £25,000 prize.
The most recent PTFA donation was a sizeable one and enabled our school to purchase a new branded school minbibus which has replaced one of our older models that was certainly close to end-of-life. The new minibus is more comfortable, slightly bigger, and provides wheelchair access so is now inclusive for all of our students.
Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher and PTFA Link, said: “We are hugely grateful to our wonderful PTFA for providing this new minibus. It means that we can continue to offer fixtures, trips, performance, work visits, and more besides. There is a good chance that all children in our school will have the potential to benefit from this purchase in the years ahead.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We are really facing a cliff in terms of school budgets at the moment and we would encourage all parents to contribute what they can to our PTFA. In the present climate there will have to be cuts in provision and so every penny counts if we are to maintain our current offer.”
