Year 10 students 10 pupils went on a visit residents at The Spires Care Home as part of their BTEC Health & Social Care course.

They undertook pancake day activities to help interact and communicate with different members of the care home. These included pancake decorating, pancake flipping and a memory game.

The students had a look around the care home and explained how the dementia wing is set up to help jog memories with pictures of old advertisements and products. The students could see how hard the staff work and how the care home has been set up and designed for the residents in mind.

Trudy Simkiss, visit organiser, said: “The students impressed everyone with their polite and respectful manner and were a credit to the school. Huge thanks to the wonderful Spires staff involved in what was a the lovely experience.”
