Residents from The Spires Care Home came to visit the Friary School as part of our industry partnerships in our Focus Week for World Carers Action Week.
As part of this focus week, Year 10 Health & Social Care students subject were asked to come and help and interact with the care home residents who came into school on a visit.
This helped with their understanding of the care industry and the condition as they learn about dementia and life stages in their course.
Refreshments were organised and games and activities were brought in to entertain and interact with the staff and residents.
Trudy Simkiss, event organiser, said: “A lovely hour was had by all and great real-life experience for our students which they can apply to their exams and coursework as they progress through their course.”
