For over 30 years The Rotary Club of Lichfield has been producing its very successful Annual Schools’ Concert as the principal Community Event of the year giving young people of all ages the opportunity to perform in a real theatre with professional advice and support.
Friary students from across our Performing Arts and Music Departments were thrilled to take part and to add to what was a well-received and sell-out event.
They performed three pieces and provided both singers and a live band: ‘Money’ from the celebrated stage show ‘Cabaret’, ‘Pirate Jenny’ from ‘The Threepenny Opera’, and a monologue called ‘Request Stop’ by the acclaimed British playwright, screenwriter, director and actor, Harold Pinter.
Jon Hood, Head of Music, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop their stage craft whilst also contributing to what is a wonderful community event. Our school benefits immensely from our Rotary partnerships and the experience of preparing, operating back-stage, and then front-stage at The Garrick was too good an activity to miss.”
