The Friary U13s took on local rivals Lichfield Cathedral in an exciting series of hockey matches. It was a particularly special occasion as some new Year 7s stepped up to play for the first time – and what an enjoyable experience they had.
The Year 8 team put on a dominant display, securing a fantastic 5-1 victory. Goals from Josh Hunt, Jack Stainforth, and Lennox Osbourne sealed the win, showcasing their attacking prowess. A brilliant result for the boys, and best of luck to those competing in the U18s championships this week.
The Year 7s faced a tough challenge but battled hard against Cathedral. They narrowly lost their first game 2-1 but bounced back impressively to win the remainder of their matches. It was great to see goals from George Walker and Larry Evans, with an assist from Edward Bytheway. A strong performance from the younger squad, showing real promise for the future.
Kim Fallows, Team Coach, expressed delight at the growing enthusiasm for hockey at The Friary: “With so many boys attending training weekly and new players arriving each Wednesday to go. It was fantastic to have Jack Lawton, Alexander Price, Freddie Crawford, and Harris Hardy as part of the squad this week. Well done to all involved.”
“A special thank you must go to the parents and grandparents who came to support the Friary boys. The atmosphere was electric, and the players truly appreciated the encouragement from the sidelines. Great work, Team Friary!”
