We were joined by Keele University who came in to talk to Year 13 students to give awareness about finances and how to budget properly as a student. They talked about managing money effectively, working with tight budgets and how important it is to be organized and thinking ahead of expenses that they may not yet have considered.
It can be a daunting task as a student to take control of utility bills, food costs, social activities, travel costs etc. Managing costs consists of adding up the full income and taking off essential outgoings, whatever is remaining can be saved or spent on other things throughout the month. Sounds simple, however the cost of living as a student can prove to be challenging to balance month after month.
The below links help students to budget effectively and be in control of their financials.

Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said; “University remains a great route but it is vital to be fully aware of the financial costs and challenges that it brings. Preparations here is really everything so the more advice we can offer our students, the better placed they are to succeed and thrive at university.”
