Student alumni Minhaz Uddin, was welcomed back to The Friary School to deliver an assembly about his Higher Degree Level Apprenticeship with Airbus, the world’s largest airliner manufacturer.

It designs, manufactures and sells civil and military aerospace products worldwide. In summertime ex head boy Minhaz gained superb A-Level results, which led him to apply for the Level 6 Higher Degree Level Apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering with Airbus in partnership with University of the West of England Bristol.

Minhaz delivered an informative presentation giving the students an overview of his degree apprenticeship. He included where to look for apprenticeships on Find an apprenticeship – GOV.UK and Gradcracker – Careers for STEM Students and the logistics of apprenticeships at this level. He spoke about the many benefits and perks of degree level apprenticeships along with a real picture of challenges students may face, application advice and his personal experiences of interview processes along with his professional development.

Faye Bullock, Careers Co-Oordinator, said: “It was our pleasure to host Minhaz at The Friary School and to hear of his experiences. The students that are actively looking for these type of opportunities were inspired and enjoyed hearing about his apprenticeship journey, opportunities and the process and determination that needs to be applied throughout. Apprenticeships are incredible opportunities that are a no debt option to gaining a degree whilst getting paid, training and gaining industry experience. Certainly a great option to entertain as they provide such valuable future career prospects.”
