The Friary School science department recently received a very generous gift from the Lichfield Science and Engineering Society (LSES). The society donated £1000 for the purchase of a laboratory incubator, which will greatly enhance the practical teaching of microbiology.
This valuable addition will benefit students across several year groups, particularly aiding 6th formers in mastering microbiological techniques. This will not only improve their studies and attainment but also help them develop essential skills for their future career aspirations.
In the accompanying photo, Jenny Arthur and Alan Hooper from the LSES are seen presenting the gift to Mr. Brown, alongside three A-Level Biology students. These students have aspirations to pursue careers in microbiology, focusing on parasitic and viral diseases, and biomedical science with a specialisation in respiratory research.
Dave Brown, Head of Science, said: “We are hugely grateful to LSES and we know this donation will significantly enhance the learning experience and opportunities for students at the Friary School.”
