As a school we are benefitting from so many of our excellent students keeping in touch, coming back to talk about their experiences and adventures since leaving school, and also wanting to know how the school and teachers are getting on.

Consequently, we have set up a Friary School Alumni where we will take contact details and send termly updates about what has been going on at school.

Additionally, in a challenging world in terms of benefitting from university and securing employment, we recognise we can learn a lot from those who are currently out there negotiating the world of university and the world of work.

The scheme is very much designed to provide a narrative for our current students about all that can be achieved but also to make sure that those students who have passed through and been so valued by ourselves can be kept in the loop on how our school is developing and improving.

Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We have sent out contact details to students from recent times and are compiling a database to ensure we can keep the news and updates flowing on how school life is going. Equally, we well appreciate that the experience of former peers will resonate more with students in terms of taking on board immediate life lessons  and being made aware of opportunities in terms of studies, the workplace and life experiences.”

The most recent Alumni Newsletter from December 2025 can be viewed here.
