Those students who attend the best tend to achieve the best exam results – the link is crystal clear in our formal exam results every single year. Of course, not every child is well enough to attend every day, such is life, but very day missed does critically make a difference.
Consequently, as a part of incentivising top-level attendance we issue termly awards for having either 100% or showing marked improved attendance this term.
The special breakfasts were inter-mingled with all the extra rewards going out in our House Celebration Assemblies so treats went out on Tuesday for Johnson House, Seward House on Wednesday, and Darwin and Garrick House doubled up on Thursday. Each winning student was treated to a creamy hot chocolate and a selection of breakfast treats.
Richard Barnett-Richards, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Our whole-school attendance levels continue to improve year on year since COVID but there is still work to do. As in all parts of school life, rewards and encouragement are a key element and our students hugely enjoyed these reward breakfasts. Everyone has a clean sheet next term so everyone can improve and win.”
