The annual Friary School Christmas Carol Service took place with a full audience of parents and families as over 100 children were involved in singing, playing or speaking.
The event is staged at Lichfield Cathedral, is free to enter, and includes all the well-loved carols including ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’, ‘While Shepherds Watch’ and ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’.
There were also a selection readings led by Year 11 students and a mixture of choral and orchestral pieces from our student musicians including ’Ukrainian Bell’. ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ and ‘Hallelujah’.
We also benefited from our Senior Seven, including Head Boy, Felix Emanuel, and Head Girl, Emma Mackenzie, helping with the stewarding.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “It was a lovely festive event and we were delighted that so many children got involved. We have even managed to build up a boys choir – a rare sight anywhere nowadays – so a special treat. Lichfield Cathedral is always a special place to be, never mind to perform, and there can be many incredibly proud families out there who can say their child held court there.”
