Our Year 11 RE students visited The Jamia Mosque in Derby to explore the lived reality of Muslims in the UK.

Whilst on the visit, the students had a tour of the mosque and the wudu room. They also did activities with a British convert of Islam and spoke with the community’s imam.

They finished the visit with a Q&A where they asked questions about religion, worship and made connections with the answers to the GCSE exam papers they are facing next summer.

Vee Boulton, Head of RE, said: “The guides were highly complementary about our students and commented on the high quality of their introspective and authentic questions. We were also hugely grateful that we were allowed to film the Q&A session as we can share the answer for a Ramadan assembly we are staging later in the school year.”
