As part of our Action Against Domestic Violence Focus Week students in Year 12 had an assembly led by Djemillah Mourade Peerbux from The Pathway Project in Lichfield.

The  Pathway Project is a Staffordshire-based domestic abuse organisation supporting young people and adults experiencing or affected by domestic abuse.

The assembly gave students insight into the work of the charity but also fed into the week’s healthy relationships PSHE focus. Students learnt more about the features of healthy and unhealthy relationships, different types of abuse and how to support and advise someone affected.

The Pathways Project is also our nominated Sixth Form charity, so we were delighted to award another £1,120 to the charity on the backdrop of our recent sweet sale and Halloween dress-up.

In total we have raised £1397.25 in the last twelve months and will continue to support the charity with proceeds raised from our upcoming sixth form Christmas quiz and charity football match.

Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said: “I am very proud that our Sixth Formers selected The Pathway Project as one of their chosen charities this year. We very much educate our male and female students about their responsibilities to one another – both in school and later in adult life – and this positive stance and charity work only reflects well on them as young people and future adults.”
