We are getting to the season when our end-of-term reports are sent out via EduLInk and having reviewed their make-up we have decided to simplify the effort grade system for subjects.

The effort grades are given alongside your child’s target grade and their current flightpath grade. Their flightpath grade refers to the destination where their current standard of work is talking them to based on our professional judgement.

The effort grades will now be given out on a 1-3 basis and which will define the following:

1 – Meeting Expectations: Student completes the work to a good level, engages well with lessons, follows rules and guidance. No general concerns about the child.

2 – Inconsistent: Students mostly follow rules and guidance but occasionally fall short of the standard; Ie – homework completion may be poor / occasionally needs reminding of expectations within lessons

3 – Poor: students fail to meet the expectations for the majority of the time. Work completion and engagement are not adequate. Further intervention may be required to support.

Richard Barnett-Richards, Deputy Headteacher, said: “This change is designed to simplify expectations and we expect the vast majority of children to be scoring ‘1’s across the board. We are keen to keep parents informed about where their child is heading as this can initiative discussions about school and future plans at home. Certainly, at our school, we are confident that if the children put their full effort in then they will do very well.”
