The U12s took to the pitch once again this week, eager to bounce back from their previous match and ready to face local rivals, King Edward’s. Despite the loss the day before against Lichfield Cathedral, spirits were high, and the team approached the tournament with excitement and determination.

From the first whistle, the Friary set the tone with relentless on their opponents. They made several dynamic runs into the D, creating early scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, some initial shots went just wide, allowing King Edward’s to capitalise with an early goal. However, the Friary squad didn’t let this deter them.

A standout performance came from Isaac Adams (Year 7), who stepped in at the last minute to cover for some player dropouts. and his quick thinking and precision passing played a pivotal role in driving the team forward. His contributions set up both Ava Holmes and Ava Sumpter, who secured spots on the score sheet, showcasing impressive composure and skill.

In defence, Emily Eaves and Matilda McCarthy were a formidable duo, holding the back line with unwavering resolve. They made crucial saves, including several shots right on the line, which prevented King Edward’s from extending their lead. Their disciplined and courageous play kept the Friary girls in contention throughout the match.

Player of the Tournament was deservedly awarded to Emily Eaves, whose relentless grit and determination stood out. Even when the game became tough, Emily’s effort never faltered. Her encouragement and leadership inspired those around her, embodying the team spirit that defines this squad.

A special mention goes to Darcey Sayce for delivering her best performance in any Friary match to date. Her standout teamwork, energy, and effort were key in driving the team forward and reinforcing the collective spirit that defines this group.
