The U12 girls played their first hockey match as a team against Lichfield Cathedral School, marking an exciting milestone in their development. Although the opposition claimed victory overall, the Friary girls displayed incredible determination and teamwork throughout the game.
Despite facing tough competition, the team’s spirit never wavered. Violet Holland’s stellar defensive performance earned her the Player of the Match awarded from Head Coach Kim Fallows. Violet’s efforts, combined with the team’s resilience, showcased the potential of this newly-formed side.
A special mention goes to Abby Youds and Esme Morris, who both found the back of the net for the Friary, ensuring the team left the pitch with hard-earned goals. Their success highlighted the attacking promise within the squad, even in this early stage of the season.
Kim Fallows, Head Coach, said: “While the final result wasn’t in the Friary’s favour, the girls remained upbeat and treated the match as a valuable warm-up for their upcoming tournament against King Edward’s. Their positive attitude and determination to improve will undoubtedly serve them well in the matches ahead. Well done, girls!”
