As part of our on-going support for our students mental health, we have tapped into International Stress Awareness Week to support or students in recognising the signs, challenges and solutions to personal and peer mental health support.

The busy week has seen yoga sessions, dance sessions, stress-busting workouts, circus track lessons , mindful colouring sessions, a House KS3 Independent Learning Competition Round on the theme, drop-in support meetings, as well as special assemblies and tutor times to reflect on mindfulness and stress-busting.

Sophie Grigg, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We provide extensive support for students and families through mentoring, counselling and liaison with external agencies in relation to mental health but clearly it is an on-going issue that cannot be resolved by a single intervention. A key part of the remedy is teaching one another to recognise our stress points, understand our personal reactions, and developing coping strategies to manage our feelings and reactions so that we can effectively self-medicate. These techniques, coupled with wider support, can alleviate the stresses young people face, and put them in a better place to support others as well.”
