Our first round of our KS3 Independent Learning House Competition recently took place on with teams from each House having spent time swotting up on their general knowledge of things stress-related, as part of our Stress Awareness Focus Week.

The teams had ten questions ranging from knowledge of stress-related hormones to where yoga originated from.

They all performed very well, with most teams scoring highly. However, despite extra cheerleading from their HOH, Mr Britton, Darwin couldn’t steal a win from the almighty quiz champions, Seward House.

Their Seward team from 8S1 – made up of Zara Tomkins, Cheryl Lee and Oliver Anderson – scored 8 out of 10 points, beating all other teams. Second place went to a Garrick House team – 7G1 comprising of Mila Stamenov, Freddy Shoesmith and Evie-Maie Moseley.

students who took part included:
7J2 – Martha Heathcote, Isaac Adams and Joshua Lamb
7D1 – Lucy O’Connell, Tabitha Riley and Alexander Collett
7D2 – Summer Andrew, Toby Armstrong and Evelyn Hall
9G2 – Oscar Eggington, Henri Gathergood and Zac Hann

Sam Sullivan, Assistant Headteacher, said, “I was impressed and surprised at the breadth of knowledge the students had on this important subject. It was a really close call, with Seward and Garrick just scraping the top spots with one or two extra points.”
