Our annual Dedication Service at Lichfield Cathedral to celebrate our new Year 7s step up to secondary school was superbly attended by fmaileis and provided a perfect landmark in our students’ lives as they approached the end of their first half-term with us.

The service included prayers, speeches, hymns readings and musical recitals.

Our Choir sung ‘What A Wonderful World; and our orchestra played a selection of Harry Potter arrangements.

There were two fantastic ’First Impression of The Friary’ read out by Year 7s Tabitha Riley and Rory Strong which combed the real emotions of starting big school with more light-hearted refrains. These were followed by our Head Boy and Head Girl, Felix Emanuel and Emma Mackenzie recounting their experiences as they move towards the end of Year 13.

The service was presented by Canon Andrew Stead and supported by the wider Lichfield Cathedral team.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We feel the step up to secondary school is such an important landmarks in our children’s lives that it is well worth celebrating and this event at Lichfield Cathedral contained both the formal and the fun which we always try and combine as a school. The speeches by our students were fantastic – wonderful perspectives – and our musicians performed fantastically well. This is a talented Year 7 group, and with such great family support at this event, it is difficult to not see them shine as they make their way through our school.”
