Our Sixth Form led their Halloween Celebrations with a fancy dress day designed to raise money for The Pathways Project in Lichfield, an organisation set up to support those affected by domestic violence.
The issue of domestic violence is a live one in our community, one of Lichfield District Council’s community priorities, and an issue that affects too many Friary students as they live and grow.
The costumes very much took on the American tradition so wide-ranging fancy dress and costumes ranged from Beetlejuice to Spiderman, cowgirls to Pink Ladies and dinosaurs to The Grim Reaper. Elsewhere, the Sixth Form was spookily decorated and further fund-raising activities took place through the day.
Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We look to add that traditional university ‘Rag Week’ to our Sixth Form and ensure that hard work is combined with fun, team spirit and community awareness. The day and events were very much student-led – they integrated well with our Interact Club which works in association with Lichfield St Chad Rotary – and as well as bringing great support for a worthwhile cause a good time was held by everyone – whether dressed up Sixth Formers, or younger students loving seeing the costumes and plotting what they would wear once they’ve passed their exams and made it there.”
