We pulled together our girls’ teams for their first competitive fixtures of the school year – with Nether Stowe the opponent.

Our U15 team played a great game, with determination and fantastic effort from all. Unfortunately, the end score did not represent how well they played. The result was a 5-3 loss, however special mention needs to be mentioned for an amazing third goal from Brogan Crawford and consistent hard work from Aimee Irvine.

Our U13 team made up of Year 7 and Year 8 girls playing together for the first time and it showed with a lacked communication and form in the 1st half. However, goalkeeper Isabel Bridges kept us in the game first half with several excellent saves meaning we were only trailing 1-0 at half- time. With a rejig of positions and roles distributed, we had far more possession and determination to score. Eventually, Evie Taylor crossed a beauty into the box, which missed everyone and landed in the top corner. 1-1 the game was back on. Sadly, in the last few minutes of the game we conceded again and in pushing to equalise ended left 3-1 down.

Hollie Wright, team coach, said: “It was very much early doors for our teams as they kicked off their season but as both games progressed partnerships began to work their way out and the quality of the football was ever improving. We are confident the girls will kick on from this and a victory won’t be faraway.”
