Our Year 11 girls took part in the in their last school netball tournament at Chase Terrace competing against 7 local schools.

Our first opponents were Chase Terrace, and it was a game which we had a high percentage of the possession; while warming up and finding our groove we worked the ball into the shooter and intercepted well to finish 1-0 up.

Our next game against Nether Stowe saw us 3-0 down quite quickly. However, we regained our flow and scored a goal, but it just wasn’t enough and saw us finish with a loss.

Our last group game saw us face King Edwards and the girls played a lovely game which saw the ball move up and down the court. Unfortunately, their shooters didn’t miss and managed to score more than us.

In reflection we were a shooter light, but the girls all took their turn to help in unfamiliar positions and we focussed on our strength in defence to keep to motivation high.

We unfortunately didn’t qualify for the semi-finals but played a 3rd place game against Cannock Chase which saw us finish with a 3-1 win.

Hollie Wright, team coach, commented: “We walked away with positive affirmations for each other and, though the results didn’t go our way, the girls shone and did their best in every game. On a personal level, I have enjoyed every second of their 5-year journey of Netball with this age group and glad to see us finish with a win. Hopefully, we can sort a few friendly games, so the girls can keep themselves involved as they move towards their final exams and our Sixth Form.”
