A-Level Physics students attended a lecture at our city’s Garrick Theatre entitled ‘Superconductivity: The First 113 Years’ by Stephen Blundell, Professor of Physics at Oxford University.

The lecture included an enthralling account of historical developments in superconductivity which included contributions from some of the leading physicists of the 20th century and some modern day applications, for example in MRI scanners.

Dave Brown, Head of Science, said: “The students gained knowledge linked to their A-Level studies but also, above and beyond that, got a taste for what learning in Higher Education will be like. This session is just part of how our school seeks to stretch and challenge our students to aim as high as they possibly can.”
